My Story
Life is all about the planting of seeds on our hearts, and then watching them bloom, unexpectedly. Rewind almost 20 years ago, I was a young military wife (married to my high school sweetheart), a mother of a sweet girl, and a BRAND new baby boy. With the little money we had, I joined Mary Kay hoping to bring in extra income for our growing family. I bought ALL of the things, but sadly did not succeed. I did however, witness something that I had never seen before, which was a group of women, loving on, and celebrating each other! This experience left a mark on my heart forever, and I yearned for more!
Fast forward 5+ years... we welcomed another sweet baby boy. After six weeks, I went back to work, attempting to be and do ALL of the things. My newborn was in childcare, and quickly became sick, repeatedly... I was missing SOOOO much work. One night while asleep, the Holy Spirit spoke to me, very clearly saying "Quit your job, I will sustain you." I told my husband about this VERY CLEAR message, but laughed and said "there is NO way I can quit my job!" Well... my son continued to get sick, and I continued to miss work. I heard God speak to me a couple of more times over the next several weeks, I continued to hear God say, "Quit your job, I will sustain you!" One day I received a call from an old friend who said "Heather, I have an opportunity that I think you are going to LOVE!" As she shared the opportunity with me, I knew this was what God intended for me when he said "I will sustain you." Shortly after I joined what was then a brand new Direct Sales company, Origami Owl, and submitted my two week resignation. That opportunity helped my family financially for the next four years, and once again I was able to see the beauty in a group of women, loving on, and celebrating each other! Another seed had been planted, and another mark had been made on my heart.
In November of 2023 I was laid off from my most recent job. It's funny because while the job provided very well for my family financially, I often whispered to myself "you are meant for so much more." Though I was devastated to lose my job, I had a strange sense of calmness, and just felt that the Holy Spirit was in control, and that HE would again, "sustain me."
Those planted seeds, a nudge from my husband, and my love for anything and everything, antique, pretty and southern, lead to the idea, of Talula's.
My vision for Talula's is to provide a place where friends and fashion intertwine, where style and grace are one. We hope to be a light in the community, by serving others, and creating a space where faith, southern traditions, feminine touches, and fun radiate in all that we do!
I believe with my whole heart that this is where God intended for me to be, and I am beyond excited to share this experience with you!
XOXO,
Heather
